MediaAcT is a European research project comparing media accountability and transparency systems and examining digital engagement, such as blogging.
The study covers Austria, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Tunisia and the UK. Funded under the European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme its main goal is to enhance press freedom and journalism standards and to assist the European Union in the development of policies that encourage self-regulation.
It is currently seeking more responses to its survey that you can find at this link. At such an uncertain time – with numerous Parliamentary committees and the Leveson Inquiry asking questions about the state of British self-regulation – such a piece of research sounds immensely valuable. MediaWise, the University of West England-based charity running the MediaAcT survey, is keen to gather more responses to improve its findings.
